Autumn Oval Card

This card is inspired by "Silversnow" on Splitcoast and her card "Poinsettia Tapestry Garland". She used a stamp set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and for those who have seen cards using the Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamp sets you know the cards usually feature a wreath. I have been to many of the traveling stamp shows in the past and that is where I came across all the tapestry stamps I have bought from Rubber Stamp Tapestry. I probably have 6 of their sets -- but altho I liked the stamps I have only used them to make a wreath on a card front or maybe stamp a corner on a card front but never thought "out of the box" . . . until I saw the card from Silversnow - - -

On her card she used her stamp set as a border above and below her greeting on the card front and I will try to do that someday --- but for now here is a fall card I made using the "Fall Leaves and Acorns" stamp set. Rubber Stamp Tapestry also sell their peg stamps out of sets so you can buy a stamp set and then buy other stamps you would want to add to your set -- on my card I also used three other peg stamps not included in the Fall set I used.

To begin with I cut and scored a green card stock base. Then used a piece of pumpkin card stock for the card front. For the cream oval piece I cut my piece to the size I would want and then used the oval die set from Spellbinders to cut out the oval.

With these stamps you have to have a starting point --- this allows you to 'plan' your design rather than just stamping all over the place --- I began with the maple leaf stamp and went from there -- stamped at the top of the oval and then the bottom and then the sides -- like a clock. Filled in from there and once all my maple leaves were stamped I went to another stamp, and another colour. Just kept stamping and turning my piece. Two things about these stamps -- at first you may think you are making a mistake as it does not look good but keep stamping, adding more and more colour, and using more and more shapes --- periodically do stop and look at your piece to be sure it is what you want but the key to this is the layers of shapes and colours:

Once I had this piece all stamped the way I wanted it I cut out a smaller piece of cream card stock and stamped the "Autumn Greetings" stamp. Using the ATG I put this piece behind my stamped oval piece. Then put this onto the pumpkin piece and then these were put on the green card stock base.

Using the paper piercer and an oval piercing template I made three marks for the pearl placement near the top and near the bottom of my oval piece. Using sparkly ribbon from the stash I made a small bow and put that on the card front using a mini glue dot. Thanks to Silversnow for sharing her card and pushing me to get out an older product I have not used in a long time --- and for sharing a new way to use these stamps --- TFL and YOLO

Think this one is the best I've seen looking at your lovely cards tonight. You're making me want to go hunt up these sets that I have. Thanks for the placement tip too. I love watching the demo's at the shows, but never have tried myself. TFS
