Dollar Tree Candy Cane Wreath

Had seen a crafter on YouTube "Julie's Wreath Boutique" and she made a deco wreath using the Dollar Tree candy cane wreath form. I basically followed her pattern but I used deco mesh from the Dollar Tree and for hers she used the deco mesh from Hobby Lobby. Here is my wreath:

Using the deco mesh from the Dollar Tree I used 7 groups of red mesh and 6 groups of white mesh to cover the candy cane - I think in her video she used 6 of each colour mesh. I also used small plastic ornaments from the stash to make three groups of three to put on the wreath form. Before I did anything with the ornaments I removed the ornament tops and used hot glue to put those on the ornaments so nothing will fall off. Then I used a piece of wire and put the three ornaments together and put them on the wreath form.

Peppermint ribbon is from the stash and red ribbon is from Mikes on sale. To make this wreath I did each cluster of mesh and put them on the wreath rather than have all this deco mesh on the craft table. This wreath went together quickly so I made it in a couple of hours.

A recent trip to Restore and I picked up a green round wreath form and a bag of plastic ornaments - the ornaments were $4.00:

Large and small ornaments in the bag with different shapes --

Another easy wreath I can put together for the porch door or back door. More fun projects for me.....

New to me stuffs - - -

Sadly my PIC (stamping Partner In Crime) lost her mother earlier this  year and she has been dealing with all that. . .  her Mom was a card maker and my PIC packed up her craft room and brought it to her house and she asked if I would be interested in looking at any of it? I told her only if I pay her for it .... and so that goes.....

Here are photos of the things I picked up:

Lots of gems -- and then the gloves from the Dollar Tree that I use to make the Snowman Snuggets for Christmas - some of these colours I could never find at my store:

Different die sets -- the far right is a Sunflower die set from Tessler and that will be cute for Fall cards next year. Also she had a Halloween die set from IOStamps (Impression Obsession) that I was happy to find. Doily die set, clock die set, and the street lamp and sign die set from Cottage Cutz.

Stamp and die sets and another doily die set.

This is a quilt die set, lamp post die set, and bunny/Easter die and word stamp set. I even got a pack of the magnet cards from Stamp N Storage still sealed... I also picked up a pack of Spring coloured bows that I will use for Easter projects ahead:

and of course getting my PIC to take money was another battle..... but she finally took a little money so I will be sure to put these things to good use - already used the gold crystal gems on my Thanksgiving bags and the gloves will get used this year for my holiday Snuggets.... and will be sure to use the doily die sets for the holiday rosettes I make.. I was careful to pick up things I KNOW I will get use from as I know her Mom would want these items to continue on in projects ahead....

Thanksgiving Treat Holders

Here are photos of a couple of the treat bags I made this year for Thanksgiving:

The card stocks are from the stash and I used a decorative border edge die to cut out the gold foil poster board from the Dollar Tree for the top of the bag. Put together a flower in fall colours and added that to the center of the border piece. I used the "Thankful" die set from Scrapdiva Designs and the gold poster board for the word and the shadow piece is various card stocks from the stash. I used fall themed cup cake liners for the rosette under the word dies. I put this on a white doily that I die cut from a large doily die by Cheery Lynn from the stash.

Inside this bag is various treat holders:

For the large holder in the back I used a candy slider die from Jaded Blossoms and that holds a full size Hershey bar. Used the Waffle Flower new scarecrow die set for the scarecrow on the front of the candy bar holder. Used an old steel rule Sizzix fence die for the fence and I cut that out of recycled card board. I used a 1 inch circle punch and punched out three circles and sponged the edges of those and stacked them for my pumpkin. Used a die set from HoneyBee for the corn stalks behind the pumpkin. For the Hershey nugget holder left front I wrapped the nuggets in fall coloured card stocks and I made a tray and put the nuggets on that. Used a pretzel bag from the candy aisle at the craft store to put them in and tied this closed with orange jute from the Dollar Tree. Used a large glue dot and put the wooden leaf on the front. The pumpkin Tootsie Pop holder on the right is a die set from Taylored Expressions. The greeting on that is an old wooden stamp from the stash.

Back right is a pillow box I made using a die from my stash - I had to lay it on the side to take the photo as it would not stand up straight for the photo... the lower left front is a holder I made using the Libary Card die set from Ellen Hutson and that holds a fun size M&M candy. Always fun to make treat holders for chocolate treats. . .

Thanksgiving Cards

My PIC (stamping Partner In Crime) and I had shopped the Customer Yard Sale at the Enchanted Cottage back in October. I always shop at the store before I leave the sale to help support their store. I had seen a couple of projects using the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Turkey die set so I picked up that set at the store. I used this die set for my Thanksgiving cards this year:

For the turkeys I cut the bodies from kraft card stock scraps to help use those up. The brown feather fan is brown card stock from the stash. For all the printed feathers in the back I used various prints from the stash - three of the prints I recently bought at the Reconsidered Goods recycle crafts store in Greensboro for 15 cents each - I only bought fall coloured prints as I knew I wanted them for this turkey die. For his wings I used scraps of pumpkin card stocks.

The card stock base is Canyon Clay card stock from PaperTreyInk. I cut and scored those at the top. For the cream background piece for the front of the card I used a chicken wire background stamp from IOStamps (Impression Obsession) that I picked up at one of their Warehouse sales before they announced they were closing. I inked that with light brown ink and stamped the card fronts. Trimmed them all to size for the card front. I wanted a rectangle frame around the turkey so I used a die from my stash and cut this frame out of various colours of card stock - I used half sheets of the card stock that I had left from other projects.

With all pieces die cut I used liquid glue and put all the prints on the big feather piece - that again I used scrap card stock for since it will not be seen. I then put the brown feathers piece over the prints and I used foam dots for that for dimension. Assembled all the turkeys with their die cut pieces using liquid glue and then I put them on the feather pieces using foam dots for him. The "gobble" greeting is a stamp I have from Morningstar Stamps (now closed) and rust ink. I used a banner die from the stash to cut that out and I tucked it behind the turkey. Added crystal gems to the card fronts for some sparkle. Happy to be able to use so many scraps up for the card frames, turkey body, and large feather base. A cute little turkey for Thanksgiving cards and easy to assemble.

PIC's Birthday - - -

Yesterday was my PIC's (stamping Partner In Crime) birthday. Here are photos of things I got for her and I dropped this all off to her house with a bakery layered chocolate cake since she likes her chocolate:

Some of the things -- Honey Bee Stamps reverse tweezers, their Seed Packet die set, miniature MISTI things, I bought her the glue sticks that are super strong and work really well, bought her the stamp conditioner/eraser to condition new stamps from Altenew.  Gave her her own Ginger Bread Bow die set and I gave her a couple of those bows I made so she knows what it looks like made up:

Gave her some cash so she can buy fabric or whatever supplies she would need since she makes the beautiful fabric ornaments. I also made her one of the signs for her craft room that I had made for my craft room and also one for my DSD and her craft room. My PIC is a purple person so I used purple for her but the camera did not capture the right colour but it is purple:

Her Mom passed away earlier this year so I tried to make this a little extra special for her since it is her first birthday without her Mom.  I hope she likes it all and can use it in her projects!

Shopping and hauls.....

Took a day trip yesterday to Greensboro and my DSD was with me. We shopped at the Reconsidered Goods used craft items store there and I found a lot of new to me items for the craft room and my total was $14.00:

This photo shows the Paper Sweeties Banner stamps with matching dies on the left, a generic card base die under that. I picked up a Heartfelt Creations stamp and die set for $2.00, and the die on the lower left is an older Gears die set also from Heartfelt Creations and that was $1.00. This next photo:

The far left die set is a cake stand and various decoration dies from IO Stamps. The center die set is from MFT (My Favorite Things) and that is their Snowflake Window die set that was $1.00. The far right gold die set is also from MFT and it is a fireplace die set that is a few years old. Standing behind the dies is a pack of the sticker/gems from the Dollar Tree in a larger size and that was 50 cents. This next die was the best of the lot as far as money savings:

This is a 3 piece die set from Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson and I paid $2.00. On the back you can see the original price sticker for $17.99 and this die set is from 2017:

So that was a fun stop .... off to Hobby Lobby as DSD makes vinyl projects and their vinyl was on sale. We left there and headed to the Paper/Crafting Studio and I picked up some new inks and some new dies and stamps.

The Catherine Pooler  Swirling Leaves hot foil plate was on sale for 30% off and I also picked up the Fall Leaves hot foil plate from Hero Arts. Also the round ring die from LDRS. Picked up some odds and ends for the craft room as well:

We also ran into Walmart as I wanted to pick up a Wilton rotating cake turntable for stencils so am looking forward to trying that out. I paid $11.96 for the model I got but they certainly had fancier ones to buy as well.... hoping to use that in the next day or two.... We had a yummy lunch at Olive Garden and headed home....

In the mail yesterday came my latest order from A Colorful Life Designs -- I love her holiday stencils for this year but as budget allows I only bought three:

This is her Heart Nose Deer stencil -- I put a piece of gray card stock behind it for the photo. Cute deer and I plan on using it for cards and tags.

This is her Snowflake Grid stencil and I liked it because it is not too busy for a snowflake background.

The last stencil I ordered is her Christmas Postmark stencil:

Certainly a fun day and lots to add to the craft room for projects ahead.... YAY

Rustic Scarecrow Embellishments

Finished the Scarecrow Embellishments I was working on....

Wanted to have a base for the embellishment so I decided to pull out an old Sizzix steel rule die "Picket Fence" from the stash. Used recycled flat cardboard and cut out the fence pieces. Then cut out a backer piece from brown card stock to finish it off and make it more sturdy. Once the fence pieces were cut out and glued to the brown base pieces I used a dauber and brown ink and put the brown ink at the top, sides, and bottom of the fence pieces.

Wanted some corn stalks for the front of the fence on one side so I used the dies from the Honey Bee die set "Farmhouse Fields Pumpkin Patch Add-On". Used yellow and green card stock for those. Sponged the green pieces using green ink and a dauber and then used liquid glue to put the green piece on the yellow piece. Set those aside to dry.

Wanted to make a pumpkin for in front of the corn stalks and I wanted the pumpkin to be beefy and round looking. I used pumpkin colour card stock for the pumpkins but first I used three background stamps and ink to stamp that card stock. This way each pumpkin piece will have a stamped image on it to add more dimension to the pumpkins. Here is a photo of the stamped card stock before I made my pumpkin pieces:

I used a 7/8" circle punch and for each pumpkin I used three circles. Once all the circles were punched out I sponged the edges of them all:

Used liquid glue to put two circles next to each other and the front pumpkin piece was added using a large glue dot. I wanted to add leaves to the top so I used a small leaves die from my stash and cut those out from green card stock and then tapped green ink on those using a dauber. Cut out a stem piece from brown card stock scraps using scissors. Here are the items ready for assembly:

Here is one of the embellishments:

For the corn stalks I put those onto the fence front piece using thin tear and tape. For the pumpkin I put that on the fence, in front of the stalks, using the heavy duty foam mounting tape from the Dollar Tree. (At my store the heavy duty foam mounting tape is sold in the automotive aisle not the craft aisle). To add the scarecrow I used tear and tape on a couple of fence posts on the fence piece. Once they were all done I decided to add clear Wink of Stella to the leaves on the pumpkins and I also added it to the leaves by the sunflower on the scarecrow's hat for some sparkle and shine:

Here is a photo of the die set I used for this scarecrow from Waffle Flower - "Cheerful Scarecrow Die Set":

And the rest of the embellishments:

Fun project to put together and happy to use up more of my scraps as well as other die sets in the stash to make them.

Scarecrow Embellishments

Recently bought the Cheerful Scarecrow Die set from Waffle Flower to make some scarecrow embellishments.  Whenever I buy a die set that needs to be assembled I always make a sample of the die set and tape it to the front of the die set so at a glance I will be able to see not only what the die set looks like but also the size. Here is a photo of the scarecrow the die set cuts out:

The completed scarecrow is about 2 1/4" high so I was happy I was able to use all scraps to assemble him. I think he is cute but rather plain. . .   so I went through my leaf dies in the stash and I found a die that cuts out tiny leaves so I cut those out of scrap green card stock.... but even adding the leaves did not finish his look.... so I pulled out the trimmer and cut thin strips of solid card stocks and that gave him a band for his hat. Here is a photo of one of the scarecrows I made showing the leaves and hat band added:

To add a little sparkle I put clear Wink of Stella over the center of the flower for his hat. For my scarecrow cream head/face piece I cut that out of speckled cream card stock. Used a golden yellow for his straw hair and various prints for the scarf pieces. His eyes and mouth are cut out of brown card stock and I used a darker gold card stock scrap for his triangle nose. Here is a photo of the scarecrows I have made using this die set and scrap card stocks:

This die set assembles quickly as the pieces layer together nicely. Lots you could add to him - sponging the edges for dimension, adding gems/bling to the center of his flower, etc.. He is a cute start for a cute Fall/Thanksgiving embellishment.

Here is a photo to show the sample I made with the die set ready for storage when I am done:

Inside the packing is the die set on a magnet sheet with a project sample sheet from WaffleFlower showing a photo of the scarecrow on a project. Another fun project to help use up the scrap stash....

Gingerbread Embellishments

Made up some of the KSCrafts Gingerbread embellishments with their Gingerbread die set that I had bought off of Amazon earlier this year. This die set makes a small and a larger Gingerbread. Here is a photo to show the ones I have made so far:

The top photo shows the larger size and the bottom photo shows the smaller size. Here is a photo to show them next to other to see the size difference:

I was able to use scrap printed card stocks for the bows. To make these I die cut all the bodies out of kraft card stock and then cut them out of thin card board to put behind them to make them sturdy. I used a glue stick to put the kraft card stock onto the card board. The die set comes with a face die so you can die cut the gingerbread out and then put the face die on that to cut out the face. Since I was making multiples of these I decided to cut the size face dies out of scrap white card stock and those were my templates to place the eyes, eyebrows, and mouth on the faces:

With the face templates die cut I then cut out all the face dies using a brown card stock in both sizes. I placed the templates over the face area and used liquid glue to put all face pieces on. The smaller die set has two circle pieces for the pink cheeks which I die cut out of pink card stock and I used these circles on the larger faces but I thought they were too big for the smaller face. So I used the face die for the larger gingerbread man and I used pink card stock behind the eyes and cut out the eyes in the pink card stock and those fit as the cheeks on the smaller gingerbread man:

For the icing squiggles on the arms and head I used cream card stock to match some of the printed card stock bows and white for the other bows. I put the squiggles onto the gingerbread using liquid glue and once dried I used Diamond Stickles on those to add some sparkle. Added small sparkly red pom poms to the center of the larger bows and gems to the center of the smaller bows. Put all the bows on the gingerbread using Tear and Tape.

These embellishments were easy to make since I made them assembly style and the thinner card board as the base makes them sturdy. I decided to add them to the front of the Ferrero Rocher and Lindor candy wreaths I had made yesterday for decoration:

An easy embellishment project to add to holiday projects ahead....
