Stash or Cash??? Trying to use more of the stash products so for this card all that was used was already in the craft stash -- I have various printed napkins in the stash so I thought I would laminate them for use for card fronts. Here is the card I made:
I did not want the front of the napkin to be all shiny so I used the laminate pouches in the matte finish. To do this first I picked out napkins from the stash and I separated the ply from the backs of them and then I used a mini iron to press out the wrinkles:
Once the napkins were all ironed I trimmed two different napkins to fit in the pouch. Put one napkin inside the pouch facing the back of the pouch and the second printed napkin I put on top of that and closed the pouch so you can see the right side of the napkin on the front of the pouch. Looking at both the front and back of this pouch you are looking at the front of the two napkins. I laminated this and once cooled I used the trimmer to cut the pouch apart leaving me two different napkins that are laminated on the front of the napkins only. Once they are cut apart the laminated pouches give the napkins a feeling of rice paper and you do not have to worry they will tear or something. Here is a photo of laminated napkins when they were finished:
For the card I made I pulled out an extra card base from the stash in white to put the napkin on. Used a rectangle frame die from the stash and cut out a pink polka dot card stock frame. Laid that over the napkin where I wanted the design to show and using a pencil I traced around the frame shape. Used the trimmer to cut that out on the pencil lines. Used liquid glue to put the frame die cut piece on the napkin. Then used tear and tape to put the framed napkin onto the card base. Set this aside to dry.
For the greeting "hello friend" I hot foiled the plate from the Spellbinders Summertime Sentiments which is a plate from the stash and it is their Glimmer of the Month hot plate from June 2024. I used silver foil by Spellbinders for that and then die cut it out using the matching die in the set:
Used liquid glue to put the sentiment strips on the card front. Added small pink crystal gems from the stash to the front of the card using liquid glue. The laminated napkins are easy to work with and the matte finish on the laminating pouches give the front of the napkins a 'flat' finish unlike the regular laminating pouches that are shiny and would be glary on the front of the card. Here is a close up photo of the hot foiled sentiment to show the shine from the silver foil:
Happy to get use out of the stash napkins and another project for my laminating machine. Have other projects in mind for the additional napkins I laminated so hoping to get to those soon.
